Post subject:  Edit To-Field of Reconciled Checks

Would you please explain how to edit the To-field of reconciled checks. I have selected a entry, clicked Entry > Change Entry and although the To-field can be changed via typing, clicking on OK seems to have no effect. However, the To-field can be changed via selecting another existing To-field value from the drop down to the right and clicking OK. I have changed the account options to show all To-field entries, but in some cases the correct To-field value has never been used.

I only mention reconciled checks because that's all I've tried to change.

I suppose I could make a dummy entry with the correct To-field text to get it to appear in the drop down, and then later delete the dummy, but I assume that should not be necessary.

BTW, we are moving from Quicken, and all we need is a checkbook application that does checkbooks rather well, and so far we're satisfied.

is it possible that the autofill function may be jumping in and adding extra text when you click ok based on an existing entry? try typing your correction and using tab to leave that field and see if the newly typed to/from stays as it is or changes to something else.

If autofill is completing the entry with misspellings or incorrect format, you may want to search your previous entries for that version of the to/from and correct it there.

Sending us screenshots based on the before, during and after editing the to/from field might help us figure out what is happening there. You can send those screenshots to support@splasm.com with a quick note about your issue.

Thanks for the quick response. Tab seems to work at least in one case. Otherwise, it didn't. Moreover, a dummy entry doesn't seem to work either. There seems to be a perverse bias to previous entries that is difficult to overcome in some or perhaps most situations. I'll try to post a scenario tomorrow.
