Hello. I have accidentally deleted one of my accounts. I am trying to restore it using the Backup files. I go to users>username>Library>Application Support>CheckBook2. I then copy one of the files in the backup folder and rename it: Accounts.plist, replacing the existing file which I rename Accounts.plist.old. However, when I launch CheckBook2, all I get is a blank new file. How do I get access to my Backup file??? - DESPERATE

You may be missing one step. Before you rename one of your backups to Accounts.plist, you will want to make sure you double click the file are going to rename to uncompress it. We compress each file to save space.

Once it it uncompressed, you should see a new version with a .plist file extension at the end instead of a .Z. Rename the version of the file with the .plist instead of the one with the .Z.

When moving or restoring files, try to always duplicate files and keep the original where you found it. This will keep you from destroying the original backup. Let us know if this helps.

I didn't know that. I typed up a "read me" note and stuck it in the Backup folder, "just in case." Perhaps that could be a suggestion for the future - that such a note be placed there at installation.
