Last file in Library / Application Support / Checkbook 2 is dated 3 weeks ago. Is there a way to force a weekly backup?

Will CBP support Auto Save in Lion?

You can do it manually in CB Pro: File > Backup Accounts... BUT, It will save as "Accounts.plist" so you really should rename that if you intend to keep it as a backup somewhere and not take the chance on it getting confused with the working copy with the same name.
If you SAVE (Command-S) you will also assure that the file is up to date

A couple things changed with the 2.2 update.

One of the big things that changed is the default location of the Accounts file. Apple no longer allowed us to store the accounts and backups in the Application Support/CheckBook 2 folder by default. We had to move it to the Application Support/Splasm Software, inc./CheckBook 2 folder. It all has to do with the new rules they put in place and require you to abide by if you want to be allowed into the Mac App Store.

You will find your backups and your Account file in the following new location from now on: /Users/[your username here]/Library/Application Support/Splasm Software, Inc./CheckBook 2

You can also change this location by going to the CheckBook preferences, and then the advanced tab to modify where you would like to store it.

Randy,

Thank you pointing this out! I hadn't seen a backup plist for any backup since 6/30/2011 in ~/Library/Application Support/Checkbook 2/Backups where I usually look.

Hmm. It would probably be a good idea to remove the old backups before you used one by accident! Is there any way to rename the old folder to, say, "Checkbook 2 Archives" next time there's a change to the app? Or stick in a READ BEFORE USING text document in the old folder?

I simply chucked the old folder because the new one is in place, plus I have Time Machine AND a SuperDuper! backup.

The old backups are still valid, we just moved the location for new backups. Each backup has a date, so they should indicate when they were backed up and you will be able to tell how recent they were.

We may add some more robust controls regarding automatic backup in the future. its on our request list.
