I have used CBP for a year. Love it. 2.2.1
Upgraded to Lion with no trouble. Tonight it locked up and died. Will not boot again. I deleted app. Downloaded 2.2.1 and reinstalled. It still will not load. I open the program, menu bar appears at the top, but no CBP ever opens. I have data backed up, but I can't get a new version of CBP to even start. Any ideas?
I, of course, have restarted Mac several times.

Hi there!

Can you get the issue to happen again and send us a System Information report? To create the report go to the Apple menu at the top left of your screen and select "About This Mac". A window will appear with info about your Mac. Click the "System Report..." button at the bottom of the window and a new window with a lot more info will appear. Select "Save..." from the File menu and send the resulting file to us at support@splasm.com. We'll take a look and let you know what we find!

I will try, but I did a full restore from Time Machine and was working well.
As soon as I tried to open the split information from a mortgage entry, it completely locked again. I used a backup.plist and it won't even open that. The app itself is damaged. I will try to get that report best I can.

Is that Split Entry post-dated? There's an issue with 2.2.1 where future Split Entries, when expanded and visible on screen, will hang the user interface the way you're seeing there. CheckBook Pro 2.2.2a4, which is stable, resolves the issue. You can get a copy at http://www.splasm.com/special/checkbook ... .2.2a4.zip . Let us know if that helps. Thanks!

Yep. I'm always looking a couple weeks ahead on auto-draft bills etc. So it was an issue with post-dated splits. I won't be able to install the new build until tonight. Thanks for your prompt attention. It not only hung up. It destroyed the application and something in OS because even a reinstall of CBP didn't help. Only a full restore of entire Mac from back-up. Did you see something in sys report?

Nothing out of the ordinary in the report. The app itself wouldn't have hurt the OS, though. The issue was a very simple case of using the wrong selector to message an object about what color to use to draw future Entries. This can only affect the way the current app is running and doesn't touch anything on disk. You wouldn't see the issue completely resolved without the new build, but restoring from backups might temporarily contract all the future Split Entries (preventing the issue) or move the current view to a different part of the Account where you can't see any future Split Entries (also preventing the issue). It would crop up again as soon as you scrolled to where you could see a Split Entry that is expanded.

Hope to hear good news when you try that build tonight!

The split issue absolutely froze CBP 2.2.1 and it would not even open again no matter how many times I tried. That is why I downloaded and installed it again. It still would not open, so that is why I did full restores of the entire system from backup, twice.... I will try the new build soon.

OK. 2.2.2a4 has been installed and the post-dated split does open without locking up. I have closed and re-opened it several times. So far so, good. Thanks for the follow-up. Keep improving it. Looking forward to iOS integration !
