I just purchased and downloaded. Entered serial# but app then asks for password: which I haven't set up (DUH I can't open the app so setting a password is NoGo) I tried the forum password in vain, seems to me this is a rather SERIOUS problem. the perferences, etc are greyed out also  (which was an issue with the trial also--which I never could use) So far I am very UNIMPRESSED!

When you first launch CheckBook, even the trial, you're asked to set up a new Account. In that window there are a couple of fields to set up a password and confirm that password. You can also set a password in CheckBook's preferences, under the Security section. If you didn't intend to set up a password in either location you can reset CheckBook - just quit CheckBook, go to the Finder, select "Go to Folder..." from the Go menu at the top of your screen and paste in the following: ~/Library/Application Support/Splasm Software, Inc./CheckBook 2 Move the Accounts.plist file to the Trash and the next time you open CheckBook it should ask you to set up an Account.
