I noticed that dates in smart folders only accept a 2 digit number for the year, although the space is large enough for 4 digits. If you enter the month and day as 2 digit numbers, it will drop the leading zero, but if you enter the year as 4 digits, it drops the last two numbers. SO, a smart folder for 2012, entered as 01/01/2012 will actually go in as 1/1/20. This is not good, because the criteria does not have to be reviewed before the folder is actually accepted for use. The user must open the folder after its creation to see exactly what the rules are. You might consider fixing the date field to truncate the leading digits on the year if 4 characters have been entered, in the same manner as you truncate the 01-09 characters on month and day, or simply just accept the more common format of mm/dd/yyyy. Yes, I know this is set in the Preferences panel, but that's for display. You don't really enter the dates in the register.
