[Sorry to cross-post but I think this forum may be more appropriate for my questino than Feedback & Suggestions]

Two questions:

(1) SunTrust downloads my checking acct transactions in QFX format. The tag that it uses for check numbers is <CHECKNUM>, but CheckBook's Import Options panel does not appear to offer that as a source field. Instead, it offers to import Reference Numbers, which apparently equate to the <REFNUM> tag, which contains a useless i.d. number.

Is there a way to tell CB to map <CHECKNUM> to "Check #"?

(2) Also, it looks as though CB does not even try to memorize "To/From" -> "Category" mappings. I'm pretty sure I remember that Quicken, when it imported the QFX file, would see "STARBUCKS USA 00083170" in the To/From field and auto-plug "Coffee" in the Category column for me.

Is there a way I haven't found to tell CB to try and memorize payee / category mappings?

Thanks,
Chap

1. You can tell CheckBook to skip the reference number field (select skip instead of the default Check #) and CheckBook will move to filling in using the checknum field from the OFX/QFX file.

2. CheckBook does not yet have any import rules to automatically assign categories or other data to incoming transactions. We will add that to the feature request list and look into it for future versions of CheckBook.

Let us know if skipping the reference number field helps you get the results you were looking for on your import.
