I'm in the process of buying a new Mac and I would like to transfer the license and data base from my old Mac to my new one. I have my serial number. Do I just copy the ~/Library/Application Support/ Splasm Software Inc. folder over to my new Mac in the Application Support Folder of the new Mac?
I'm running Lion 10.7.3 and CBP 2.3.1

Yep, that'll work...

It will be easiest if you copy the Splasm Software, Inc. folder over before opening CheckBook Pro on the new Mac because the application will create a new folder Splasm folder that contains a new blank Accounts data file otherwise. So, yeah, copy over the folder, launch the application, enter your serial number, and you should be good to go.

Another way to do it would be to create a Backup Accounts file by choosing 'Backup Accounts...' from the File menu. Then you could copy that Backup over and restore from it on the new Mac from the Advanced section of CheckBook Pro's Preferences.

Wouldn't it go over automatically when you ran Migration Assistant?

Yep, Migration Assistant will indeed allow you to copy over the same data.

Is there somewhere else my data could be hiding? There is no Splasm folder in the backup of my old hard drive. :?

Have you tried the application support folder in your library folder? Or your documents folder? Do a spotlight search for "accounts.plist"

Good luck

If you're running 10.8, it's a hidden file. In Finder, hold the Option Key under "Go" and Library will appear. In the Application Support folder is the Splasm folder.

Thanks - too many folders that say the same thing behind the scenes. :)

Mac HD/Users/Me/Library/App Support/Splasm.

If that was mentioned above, I probably wandered into the wrong library or something. Nice to easily restore my checkbook after a downgrade!

Know any tricks for Keynote? ;)
