Post subject:  Quick question on exporting data

Hi Guys,

I'm sorry in advance if this has been covered before, but I'm having a bit of a problem exporting data.

The problem lies when I'm in summary mode, and I want to export just the data that is summarized. For instance, If I want to export data for a selected time period, or a specific vendor, etc.

I really haven't been able to find a way to do that. Currently I to to file, export, QIF, and then select export current results.

This doesn't seem to work,

So any ideas?

I'm not sure if this is even possible, but if you can export specific sections then it would be verrrrrrrry helpful to us here.

Thanks!!!

CheckBook isn't capable of exporting your Account Summaries. When you use the export options under the File menu, the application exports just the Entry details (basically the info found in the Entry section and no bar graphs). So, you can certainly export only Entry data based on any number of criteria--like a certain date range or specific To/From (vendor).

To do this, first, enter the Entry section by clicking on the Entry button at the bottom of the window. Then, click on the magnifying glass icon inside the white search box at the top. Choose 'Custom Date Range...' from the drop-down list and then enter in the range of dates. Hit OK and Entries that fall within that range will be filtered out. Next, click on the magnifying glass again and this time choose 'To/From'. Now, when you type a vendor name in to the white search box, only Entries paid to or paid from this vendor will be visible.

Finally, to export just those filtered result, choose Export from the File menu. In the Export options window change the field labeled 'Export:' to 'Current filtered results.' Now you will end up with an exported file that holds only the Entry data related to your specific vendor that falls within the date range that you set.

I hope that helps get you going. Good luck!
