I changed my Checkbook password; got interrupted and later entered what I thought was the new password only to have it refused. I tried every combination I could think of but no joy. I decided to start from new and bought Checkbook Pro only to discover that it also needs the same password that I can't remember.
Can Support help. Thank you.

CheckBook's Accounts data file (which also contains the password protection data) is stored separately from the application itself. So, in order to start completely over, you'll need to delete your Accounts data file.

This can be done by, first, clicking on the Finder down in your Dock. Then, hold down the Shift and Command keys with one hand and hit the letter G key with the other hand. In the field labeled 'Go to the folder:', paste in the following file path: ~/Library/Application Support/Splasm Software, Inc./CheckBook 2/

Drag that CheckBook 2 folder to the Trash to clear out everything from CheckBook, including any passwords.

I think we got you all sorted out via email by sending the password recovery procedure, but I thought I'd post this process for anyone else who might encounter this same situation.

The Splasm team sorted this out for me with great patience and considerable effort. Very many thanks to Allan et al.

I am in the same fix as "joe". First I am new to Mac. Secondly I loaded CheckBook Pro today. I did not have any problem migrating 2 accounts from Quicken 2010. I must hit some key in the password box on one account. Before I closed CB, it showed both accounts. After I closed CB and when I came back One of the accounts was locked.

I tried the suggestion by Alan, but gets an invalid folder. I have made some changes to the other account, but could just delete everything and strt over if I have to.

Deleting the entire Accounts data file should be a last resort. I just emailed you the password recovery process, so give that a try.

Also, for anyone using CheckBook or CheckBook Pro (versions 2 - 2.3.2), the CheckBook 2 folder will always be created in the User Library. So, in the above instructions for locating the save location, if the folder can't be found, it's likely the full path was not properly copied into the Go-to-folder field. Be sure that the entire path is used, including the very important tilde (~) at the front of the path—that lets your Mac know to look in the hidden User Library rather than the root level Library.
