Brand new to this and I got a QIF file from my credit union but when I import it to CheckBook it only says "POS Debit Visa xxxx" for every debit card transaction. On my credit union site it tells who the payee was. Any way to import that info as well? Pretty useless otherwise. |

When importing a QIF into CheckBook, you have the option to select where certain fields get imported using the Import Options. So, if your Payees are in the file, you can try a different configuration for the Import Options to try to get them in the To/From field where they belong. To do this, just click on those menu buttons at the bottom of the Import Options window and change around the field designations. Then, check out the Import Preview to see if everything goes where it should. If it doesn't, click the Go Back button and try something else. If that doesn't seem to do it, feel free to send us a sample of your QIF file to support@splasm.com--the sample can be just a few transactions. Once we have a look at it, we should be able tell you exactly how to set the Import Options to get your data imported how you want it. Thanks! |

Thanks, I tried messing with the import preferences with no luck. I've emailed you a qif file. |

Thanks for sending the QIF sample to us via email. It really helped to see what you're working with! Unfortunately, your QIF file doesn't contain any To/From information. If you look at the raw data, you can see that no transactions show the To/From lines you're seeing on your credit union's website. Perhaps you could see if there are some different options for how your statements are downloaded. Then, re-download the statement and open it up in TextEdit to verify that the To/From data is there. Once your statement has the To/From info in there, the import into CheckBook will be a breeze. |
