Dear sir or madame.

I have been using version 1.8.1 for about a month since I have made the switch from a pc to a mac.
I don't know if the following problem I have is a program bug or a compatibility issue with Leopard. FYI, I am running OS X 10.5.1 with 4gig of ram on a 24" imac (intel duo-core).

Here is my problem.

Whenever I right click to get to the shortcuts of 'New Deposit', 'New Debit', etc., I can no longer see items that I highlight. They are still there and I barely can make out the text, but everything has changed to a white color within the highlighted check/deposit/etc. I've tried changing the colors, font size, etc. withing the program and within the mac system preferences, etc. (But no good)
If you want, I can email you a snippet of what this problem looks like if you aren't able to understand me. This just makes using this program a pain since I use right-click extensively being an ex-pc user.
Closing and reopening the program fixes the problem until I right-click again.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Joseph W. Shipley

I have the same problem using Leopard & Checkbook 1.8.1
Stopping using right click and using the toolbar icons instead seems to be the only way around it till the bug gets fixed.

So let me see. To do this, I have to drag my mouse down to the dock before I can right click instead of dragging my mouse up to the upper left to left click to make a new debit or credit. What the hell's the difference? I have to move the mouse down or up anyway!

FWIW, until this post, I didn't even know that a right click on the Checkbook icon in the dock even gave me the option of a new debit or credit (It certainly does, in 10.4.11) but, like, why bother? I still have to move the mouse either up or down to do either method!

Edit: Now I see I can right click on any line entry to get the new debit or credit. OK, that may be useful.

All I want is CB 2. Please.

Using the mouse to do a right click to create a new entry seems like a very inefficient way of doing things.

Why not try Command+(plus) for deposits, Command-(minus) for debits and Cmd-\ for transfers. You have to use the keyboard to enter data, and the tab key will take you from field to field. Unfortunately you still need to use the mouse to enter the Type, but sticking to the keyboard as much as possible will make data entry a lot easier and faster. The arrow keys will move you up and down, and Cmd+Return / Enter will check things off when you are reconciling.

Well,

I guess it's a bug. I just wish it was fixed. As a Windows and Microsoft Money convert, I am hooked on the right click and can't stop Bill Gates has ruined my life!!!!

Splasm, can you please provide a fix for the disappearing highlighted entry on right-click????

Have a great day!

There is a minor update that resolved the problem. There is also a work around I posted as a tip @ viewtopic.php?f=3&t=417

I am not sure why the update has not been posted as a general release yet. I tested it not long after I posted about it and have found no issues with it that I am aware of, and reported my positive findings back to the developer/author. My work around is pretty good, the update is better. That is my update makes the problem almost go away. The minor update removes the issue altogether.

I'm using 1.8.1

Where can I find a build that fixes this? I tried clicking on the update from the menubar but it says I'm running the latest version.

BTW, any idea on when v2 will be out?

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend the work around which takes two minutes to implement.

The patch was sent to me to test because it was a new.

As I mentioned I am not certain why it was not pushed into General Release. I would suggest contacting splasm support in the mean time and request it.
