Hi,

I downloaded CheckBook and CheckBook Pro, and I'm sort of confused. The CheckBook preferences have 6 sections: General, Dates, Entry, Categories, Currencies, Security. However, the CheckBook Pro preferences have only 4 sections: General, Cates, Entry, Security. See also the picture below.

Where and how do I edit Categories and Currencies in CheckBook Pro?

Thanks,
desertman

desertman,
Go to the "Account" menu item and choose "Edit all Accounts" and do your thing.

That's really obvious… changing categories under the Accounts menu. I can't find anything about this in the Help file. What would Guy Kawasaki say? Anyway it's good to know that one can change the categories to fit one's needs.

The reason Categories and Currencies are under the 'Edit All Accounts...' is that they are shared globally. A change to any of these things changes it for all accounts using these items.

Regular CheckBook doesn't have an All accounts feature or section, so these items are placed in CheckBook's preferences, as they are still considered global changes.

If you type 'Edit Category' in the search field of CheckBook's help, or in the help search bar, the first or second result should be 'To Edit a Category' and will take you to the appropriate section outlining where to go and how to proceed.
