In version 2.0 of checkbook, there no longer seems to be "transfer" has it been abandoned ? Is there a way to duplicate this feature with the ability to make it a different color than say "debit"? Thanks from a newbee |

Transfers now exist within the deposit or debit sheet. The to/from label next to the field now has a dropdown arrow next to it, in which you can select 'to account' or 'from account'. When you select either of those, the to/from field changes to a dropdown menu containing your accounts. Transfers now appear in italics and also retain their positive or negative color. Weve removed the separate transfer color preference. |

I set the To / From TRANSFER to capitals so it still stands out from the others. |

Quite honestly... I do not like the "transfer" button gone. It think it was much quicker and easier than in the new version. I'll stick with the good 'ole checkbook 1xxx for now even though I got the wonderful Pro offer. //Cheers |

Hi, My wife has just upgraded to Checkbook Pro v2.0 ... however performing transfers as you describe below does not work! The amount is deducted from the source account however it does not appear in the destination account, this is a serious bug and a major step backwards from her previous version. Also, transfers *Do Not* appear in Italics as you have stated below. Can you please let us know when this bug will be fixed ? Thanks ! MikeT. Mike, It sounds like you may have just typed in a name of an account instead of selecting an account from the dropdown menu. if you selected 'to account' or 'from account' from the 'to/from' label next to the field, you shouldn't be able to type in anything. it should switch to a dropdown menu where you must select an existing account from a list. If this isnt the case, let me know and we can work through whats happening there. |

Hi, We did "Select" an account to transfer the funds "To", we did *not* type anything ! The funds are taken out of the account but are *not* shown in the account they are being transferred "To". We have done this a number of times now to no avail ??!! Mike. Randy K. wrote: Mike,

I have the same problem and it is really annoying. I transfer money between accounts a lot and despite doing EXACTLY what the instructions say a transaction entered as either a deposit or a debit in an account when either the 'To X account' or 'From X account' does not work?????? The amount shows up in the account you are making the entry in but not in the target account. Is this a confirmed bug and if so is a fix expected soon. If not I'll revert to the old (working) Check Book. |

Thanks for giving it another try Mike, It sounds like there is an issue we have not yet seen on our test machines. We will send out a couple emails to you guys to get more information on your setup and get as much information as possible, so we can duplicate the issue here. Once we can do that, we will know more of what is going on. Thanks again for your reports, and your patience! |

Sorted (for me anyway). Maybe me but I did not realise there were TWO distinct actions in the 'To' field. One with the ACTUAL button/drop down on the left where you select 'To Account' and then another action on the right where you use the other drop down to select the actual account. It's probably me but it wasn't as clear as that in the Transferring Funds part of the Help. |

I've registered on the forum just to add my voice here. In attempting to import my last 2 years transactions from Liquid Ledger, everything was going fine until I had imported several accounts. Upon editing the transactions that were actually transfers (Liquid Ledger uses double-entry accounting) I began experiencing some odd behaviors - transfers were not updating properly. I've since given up, but would really like to switch over to CB Pro. I'll try again and try to do a better job of reporting the errors I'm seeing. DEVs - feel free to email me if you would like more input. |

If you're experiencing issues with CheckBook's Linked Entries not updating properly it's usually because the link isn't really there. I suspect both ends of each of your Liquid Ledger transfer/double-entry transactions made it safely into CheckBook. It's likely that what's wrong is that CheckBook doesn't maintain the links between transfers after importing - so there's no link in place between the two ends of each transfer. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to recreate those links between two existing CheckBook Entries. Linked Entries that you create within CheckBook should synchronize properly. |

I've reworked my method for importing and re-categorizing transactions, and am no longer having any problems. I'm also really liking CB Pro. Thanks for a great product! |

> I set the To / From TRANSFER to capitals so it still stands out from the others. How did you do this? I tried all the ways that I could think of, but couldn't find this option. Also, I would really love to have the Transfer button/icon back. That's the most common thing I do with my savings account, and it would be so helpful. I was also having the same problem as the original poster. And, as Empgamer noted, for a transfer, you have to FIRST change the "To:" to "To Account:" THEN select the account in the drop-down box. And, the transfered amount was reflected in the other account for me. But, this two-step method is made even more inconvenient with the loss of the "Transfer" button. |

I agree totally ... my wife has now abandoned CB and gone back to using spreadsheets as she says they are far more reliable than CB. Transferring between accounts is the most basic of functionality that one would expect to have in an accounting package, it should be simple, easy to use and reliable ... not hidden away like it is now in CB .... a HUGE step backwards guys and you've lost a customer because of it !! Yet another example of software developers not understanding the purpose nor the users of the software they are writing. Take heed !! Mike. |
