Post subject:  Transaction Entry

I just started using the program after switching from a PC to a Mac. I've used Quicken for many years. The only problem I have at this time is entering transactions. When using Quicken, you just entered the data directly into the checkbook register line and could just keep hitting enter to go through all of the fields and then continue straight into the next transaction. With CheckBook, you have to click on the icon to open another small window to enter the transaction... then you have to use the mouse and click to start another transaction. It's just not a smooth entry process. If you're just entering one or two transactions, this isn't too bad; but, on bill pay nights, I find it more time consuming. Is there a way to just keep entering one transaction after another without switching back and forth between the keyboard and the mouse?

Other than that, I just have one suggestion... separate columns on the register for debits and credits... like most check registers have.

REVISION:
I did figure out that you can do "Command -" or "Command +" in order to avoid using the mouse to start a new entry. But, I also decided that I don't like that Type is a drop down menu and you can't tab to it. If you need to change the Type, you once again have to use the mouse. Then it defaults back for the next entry and you have to change it again. I really wish you could just "return" or tab through all fields and then into the next transaction. Transaction entry really was much easier in Quicken. I'm really wishing that Quicken for Mac didn't get such horrible reviews. :?

By default, Macs are set up initially so that only Text boxes and lists can be tabbed to. But, if you'd like to extend that functionality to pop-up menu buttons, such as what's used to select the Type, you can adjust your System Preferences. For that, first, choose 'System Preferences…' from the Apple menu at the top of the screen. Next, click the Keyboard button, go into the Keyboard Shortcuts section, and select the bubble beside where it says 'All controls' under the Full Keyboard Access areas at the bottom of the window. After that, you can tab through everything to speed up the Entry input process.

Also, the suggestion to include separate columns for Debits and Deposits has come up before as a request, so we're planning on looking into adding that to a future release. I'll bump the request up the list for you now.
