I'm wondering if anyone else is having an issue with CheckBook Pro 2.0.1 being very very slow to come back to life when you have been in another program.

If I just simply switch to my web browser to look at my bank and then back to checkbook I have to wait 2-4 seconds before I can do anything at all. I know it's not long, but everything else is good to go right away.

I'm running OSX 10.4.11. I never had issues before version 2.x of checkbook.

Let me know if you can help, or are having the same issue.

I see this as well. I even see it when I am in the program and click to add a new debit or something. I've always attributed it to having a slightly older machine (still using a PowerPC), but maybe not. I'm currently using 10.5.4

We saw this exactly once in the middle of last year while developing 2.0 but could never get it to happen again. My first guess is we may be butting up against a physical VRAM limitation with the way CheckBook disables certain controls when the application is deactivated and re-enables them when the application is reactivated. Since Mac OS X leaves some things with an "active" appearance even when the application itself is not in the foreground CheckBook tries to pick up where the OS leaves off, actively disabling and re-enabling text fields and buttons as necessary.

Can you check to see if this happens soon after a restart, without launching any other applications?

Hi Keith - I definitely still see this after a fresh reboot. There is a 1-2 sec delay after clicking debit/deposit before the entry sheet slides down. Nothing I can't live while, but it does become a bit annoying when I am adding several entries. And if I click out on the Finder and the back to CheckBook, there is about a 1 sec delay before CheckBook actually becomes active.

I see this as well. I am running 10.4.11 on an older G3 iMac. CheckBook Pro is much slower to come out of background and much slower to start up in the first place than version 1.8.1.

x2

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread sooner, I've been gone all summer. Happy to hear others are having the issue, and it's not just me.

Hope we can find a fix soon!

It's there, but I never noticed it until you mentioned it now. Don't fix it on my account; I have other things I'd like to see you spend your time on.

G5 iMac, 10.5.4

Thank you for fixing this! The most recent update has solved this issue completely. It's nice and fast now, even on my old powerbook!

Keep up the good work.
