I preferred account names in the "Accounts" drawer list as in version 1.8.1 of CheckBook rather than balances as shown in the current version. In my opinion the little icons are stupid. It is much easier to select an account by name than by balance or icon.

Account names should also be shown along with the balances and icons. We use icons to make it quick to spot which account you are in and also use the space to put up schedule reminders and other visual queues about that account.

If your Accounts drawer is too narrow to show the full account name, you can grab its resize control along its outside edge and drag it out to make it wider. If you would rather not use the built in icons, you can drag in your own images to image list where you select from the default icons provided.

While it is true that account names can be shown by increasing the drawer's size this can't be done unless the screen resolution is set to 1024 x 768. I normally use 800 x 600. Again my old eyes need the larger type. I tried getting rid of the icon by pasting in a .gif only one pixel wide. However the program seems to allow the same space for the icon regardless of it's actual width. So much for that idea. This "new" setup for the drawer makes it totally useless for me; From now on I'll keep it hidden and use the Accounts menu to switch accounts. Incidentally all of a sudden "All Accounts" showed up at the top of the drawer; where did that come from?

The 'All Accounts' section is a feature of CheckBook Pro. It gives you a place to create smart folders and summaries that pertain to all of your accounts together.

We try our best to get our products to work on as low of resolutions as possible, but tend to optimize to apple's current standard default resolutions of their products. We will revisit some of our choices and see if we can get a few pixels of real estate back to make it more comfortable with larger resolutions.
