I have been successfully using checkbook pro for the last couple of months and backing up onto a memory stick, but it seems that the memory stick has not been
memorising the information, on opening the back up information omni outliner opens with program information but no saved data of our accounts.
Has anybody any idea of how we can back up our accounts.

Many Thanks

Ian

Ian,

Sorry for the unreasonably long delay in getting back to you. I miss a few posts every once in a while. Your backups are most likely just fine. You can't open the backup directly, as CheckBook wont know to open them. Other applications may be associated with the .plist file extension and try to open them instead.

If you need to restore a backup, you can follow these steps: First, make sure CheckBook is not running. Go to the /Users/[your username here]/Library/Application Support/CheckBook 2/ folder and rename Accounts.plist to Accounts.plist.old. Then, copy your backup to the same folder and rename the copy to Accounts.plist. It's best to copy your backup because you want to protect it from any mishaps during the restoration process. Launch CheckBook and verify your data appears as you expect. If everything shows up correctly, you can safely remove the Accounts.plist.old file.
