Apologies if this question is unbearably dim but I've just downloaded the trial and cannot for the life of me see how/where to set up Smart Folders. The Help files point the search criteria but there's nothing about how to save the criteria as a smart folder. Many thanks

New Smart Folder is listed under the ACCOUNT menu.

But I also have a question regarding the smart folders for the years. The years folders showed up after an app upgrade. I have three (2006, 2007 and 2008) that the application set up. 2006 criteria shows a from and to date. 2007 shows "last year" and 2008 shows "this year." My question is, will the criteria for these folders auto-update on January 1 (and create a new 2009 folder), or do I have to go and change them manually?

I do hope I'm not being incredibly dim here, but there is nothing about Smart Folders under the Accounts pull-down from the Menu bar. It simply has New Account....; Edit Account...; Remove Account and Switch To >

Seems it is a feature of CheckBook Pro but not of CheckBook (which I had downloaded). Problem solved.

You can set up Smart Folders to explicitly list things between two dates. If you select 'Date' and select 'Is Between', you can then select a date range which will stick.

This year and last year is good for tracking year to year spending and things that you expect to change, but the specific date range is better for things you wish not to change.
