| Post subject: | reduce asset account with split deposit |
New user question. Have a checking account set up and an Asset account with a $40,000 balance. Will post a split deposit (Payment to me) in the checking account $400 with $200 going as interest income, then $200 to reduce Principle on Asset account. How do I reduce the Asset account? Asset account is a property loan owed me. Thanks. |

To have the $200 amount come out of the Asset account, you'll want to remove it from the Split item and set it up as a separate transfer Deposit—unfortunately, different split amounts aren't able to be transferred independent of the other splits. For this, hit the Debit button, input the various fields, click on the To field label (the word 'To:' next to the field), select 'To Account', and choose the Asset account as the receiving end of the transfer.
