Can anyone help me with creating an account for keeping my charge card entries? I pay my balance monthly, so I think that the account should have a 0 balance when I put in my entries. But I can't get it to reconcile.

Thanks,
Nancy

Just be sure you have all of the charge Debits and payment Deposits that cancel those Debits out input and checked-off as Resolved. Then, that should give you a Resolved Balance of 0.00 and, so long as a Statement Balance of 0.00 is in there at the bottom of the Reconcile section, the Reconcile button will become active—clicking that completes the process. If there's a discrepancy, it'll show in the Unreconciled field.

Ok, I'm still having complications! When I started this account, I put $0.00 in starting balance. Now when I attempt to reconcile my account do I put in the statement balance or $0.00. I've been putting in what the charge card says is my balance and then the unreconciled entries increases. When I put in $0.00 as my statement balance, the resolved balance goes to $0.00 and it will reconcile. That just doesn't seem correct.

Thanks,
Nancy

What happens if you post the charge account charges as negatives (with a - sign)? Unlike a checking account, which has a positive number as a balance, a charge account has only debits until you make a payment. See if this works. I don't know. I can never balance my charge accounts either.

Yes, adding a minus sign to the Statement Balance value is a good call because the value should be negative yet some credit card providers show a positive balance on the statement for a card that has charges on it.

Also, it would be correct for the Statement Balance to be 0.00 if, as you said previously, you're continually staying on top of making payments to balance out all charges. Regarding the Starting Balance, it'd also be correct for 0.00 to be used so long as that was the balance on the card immediately before the date of the first Entry you're starting out with in the CheckBook Account—for example, if you made a payment at the end of December to balance things out and then started with January data, you would have a 0.00 Starting Balance and could go from there, adding January charges as Debits.
