I have checkbook 2.7.34 downloaded from the apple app store. how do I edit and remove entries in the cached To section of the new entry that I don't use anymore?

Also, can I upgrade to version 3.0 without getting the in-app advertising and purchases? Both basic and pro versions in the apple app store say they have in-app advertising.

You emailed us as well, so you'll find a reply with answers to your questions sitting in your inbox already, but here's the deal in case you miss that message or anyone else comes here with the same or similar questions:

Each Account in CheckBook uses the 50 most recent Entries to construct the To/From items list, by default. So, you should find old items disappear automatically after inputting 50 new items. But, perhaps reducing the number down from 50 would be the way to go if that feels like too many. To get started, go to the Account menu at the top of your screen, click the Edit Account... menu option, click the button marked “To/From”, and then click the menu button labeled “50” to choose a lower value. Or, if you'd like to switch to a manually-managed list that can be edited directly, click the circle beside where it says “The Following Items” and use the arrow marked with a swooping arrow to populate the list with your recently used items—after that, you’ll be able to remove a specific item by selecting it and hitting the button marked with the slashed-circle icon.

Also, all of CheckBook’s reporting options are found in the Summary section. To get there, click the button labeled “Summary” that’s found at the bottom of the main window. You’ll find there are some preloaded options available, but if you want to track spending associated with a specific Category or To/From item, you’ll want to create a custom Summary—get started by clicking the New button up top, then you’ll find you can set the Date Range at the top of the Summary options sheet, meanwhile, to limit the Summary details to one specific item with the Filter option that’s down at the bottom.

Lastly, you’re welcome to upgrade to CheckBook 3 through our online store if you don’t want to fool with an in-app purchase and the associated advertising that’s present in the App Store version (though, to be clear, it’s just the in-app purchase for an actual license that’s presented in that version)—any existing user is eligible for a 40% discount either way.
