I just purchased this product today; I love it. There are two things I would like to see added, and after reading the forums see that I am not the only one.

First of all the "auto-categorize" function that does not exist is a MUST. I changed from a home-made Excels spread sheet to this so that I would not have to manually enter data. Importing from my bank does not include a "category" field. Instead of spending hours, like everybody else is currently doing, inputting category info, it would be nice to be able to teach the program what to put based on my input.

Second of all the ability to a.) have a central, networked file location or b.) be able to dynamically share checkbook data is also a MUST. Most of the users on here could probably use this feature, as most people have a significant other that they work with to keep up on the checkbook. In the interim we will have to do the checkbook, create a backup, email or post that backup on the server, then go through the re-naming process to restore the updated data to the other Mac. Why not create a macro that does this? It would be a simple addition that would streamline your product and attract more users.

Thanks again for a great product. - James

I agree with this post from a couple years back in regard to sharing data. What I would love to do is put my data in a central place such as my iDisk folder. When I'm home and on my iMac and want to see my current data it would point to this iDisk folder. When I'm on my Macbook Pro it would point to the same folder and also have the latest data. Any new entries would be reflected on both machines. Is this possible? Having this software available only on 1 machine has been limiting.

Any thought yet of creating an iPhone or iPad application where I could add an entry while at a restaurant and using iDisk (or even Dropbox) it would auto-update so when I came home and opened up Checkbook Pro it would reflect these new entries.

CheckBook has added the ability to move the location of the accounts file to where you would like it since this first post in the thread. You can do so via the Advanced tab in CheckBook's preferences.

One thing to make note of however, is the potential to overwrite the data of another user if more than one person is accessing the account file at the same time. Always make sure you save your changes or close CheckBook at one location before opening CheckBook and making changes at another location.
