Post subject:  Budget forecasting work around

So I have used Microsoft money sunset edition prior to moving to Checkbook Pro. One of the things I miss is budget forecasting. I think I found a way to do budget forcasting with in this program. Could someone check my thinking and tell me if I have a good plan?

First, if I go into the account and balance it. Then, if I go into scheduled entries and check all the transactions for a period of time...if I add my balance of the account and the balance from the checked entries...would this be an accurate budget forecast?

The scheduled entries only go out 24 months...but at least that would help me rest a bit easier. In Microsoft money....I could go out indefinitely and set up transactions for things like when I changed my income source because I retired and started SS etc,

Lastly, is there still work being done on a compatible version for the iPhone?

Thank you!

What you've described is indeed a good plan! But, you can actually have CheckBook Pro add the total of all visible future Scheduled Entries to your Account's Balance for you, to save some time. Just set the interactive Balance/Total situated in the bottom right of the Scheduled Entries sheet to Scheduled Balance to see how your Account’s Balance would be affected by the visible Scheduled Entries that fall in the Look Ahead timeframe.

Also, work is indeed still being done on the iPhone version. We’re wrapping up CheckBook (Pro) 3.1 over the next couple of weeks, then we have a detour to see if we can work around a major macOS issue with Audiobook Builder, but we’ll be back on the CheckBook (Pro) for iOS project soon and hope to have something, a beta more likely than a release, to show folks in the next six to nine months. We’re shooting for a release in the fall, though you know how these things are fluid depending on Apple’s major macOS announcements in the summer. As always, keep an eye on https://splasmata.com for the latest news.

Rumors of an iOS version of Checkbook Pro have been circulating for over a decade. I quit holding my breath and hoping many years ago. I found a post about the iOS/mobile version dated September, 2011.
