I upgraded to El Capitan on October 21, 2105. I have not had a problem running CheckBook Pro until today. Today, when I try to launch the application, it bounces in the dock an does not start up. The interesting thing is that I used the app just yesterday, but all of a sudden today it no longer works.

I have rebooted, uninstalled CheckBook Pro, and reinstalled CheckBook Pro to no avail. The application will not start.

Can I check any logs to see if something is being reported that would help troubleshoot this issue?

I can't help, but I suffered the identical sircumstances last night and did what you did in an attempt to get it working again. I downloaded the 2.5.8 beta from splasm site, and software launched OK. However, now CB Pro thinks I have an unlicensed vesion. So if I knew where to find my license number (purchased via Apple Store), I could probably be up and running. I did email splasm support last night.

I'd be very interested to know what you find out, because I also purchased mine from the app store initially, and since I can't launch the app, I can't tell what my licensing information is.

I got on here because mine worked fine yesterday, but not today! The first time I tried to open it, I got a message that said I was trying to open it on a computer that I did not purchase it on and would therefore need to enter my password. I've only owned one Mac and it's been on here since I got it! When I entered the password, nothing happened. When I tried to open the app, nothing happened. I restarted and it still wouldn't open. I uninstalled and redownloaded, still nothing! This is very frustrating! Tonight is bill pay night and I can't access my check register! How can an app just suddenly quit working for multiple people?!?!

Basically the email said they are aware of the problem, but have so many emails they can't keep up. Go to the link and it should help resolve your issue.

EDIT:

I got the software working, but it won't let me do anything because I don't know my serial number! Since I purchased through Apple, their automatic serial number finder doesn't work for me! Grrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least I can see my check register and I know how much money we have before I pay bills!

This is SO frustrating!!!!!!

For anyone still facing the issues discussed above, the final versions of both CheckBook and CheckBook Pro 2.5.8 are now available that can be installed to get you back up and running again. To download, visit the Mac App Store, click the Purchased button at the top of the window, and use either the Update or Install button beside where CheckBook (Pro) is listed there.
