Hi, i am a new user to checkbook, I've used microsoft money in the past. I like the app so far, but I'm having one difficulty. I have added my scheduled entries, i will add them into my checkbook, go to my banks website, export the info using .OFX, which works, but it doesn't sync or link my scheduled entry with the actual back debit. For example, my gas bill I scheduled and entered on 1/30/12 for $107, when I exported/imported the info, it shows up on 2/1/2012 for $169.77 (actual posting date), and my checkbook has 2 entries for the same bill, my scheduled entry shows unreconciled but the imported is reconciled. How can I correct this?

Unfortunately, CheckBook will not automatically recognize when you import a duplicate Entry. So, you will either want to schedule the Entry or import the data, not both. Or, if you want to have the scheduled Entry in as a placeholder, just remove it once you import the same info. To remove an Entry, just select it, and then hit the Remove button at the top of the window.

It seems that when importing, QFX,
if the description field does no match, it thinks its a new item.

A simple thing -but I wish I had the option to disable.

Checkbook pro is a great application!

Are you saying that entire Entries are getting duplicated when you import a QFX file?

Whatever the case, you always have the option to change any Entries you are importing during the Import Preview--just double-click on the Entry. You can also remove the check mark from beside an Entry in the Preview so that it doesn't import in to your CheckBook Pro Account.

Yes, getting duplicated file, - simple to uncheck before importing,
but I wish I had the option to disable.

My bank, PNC, sometimes leaves the description field blank, & of course I fill it in, next time I import I have to look to uncheck it, or I get duplicated file.

CheckBook pro works so well that I have fallen behind on the old "hand" fashion register!

I now have to uncheck 6 files when I import QFX file.

This is getting bad, so easy to miss one of them.
All because I filled in the description field. Please give us the option!

Let me check the items to import!

So, are you repeatedly importing a QFX statement that has all the same Entries on it, plus the new transactions for the month? And this is why you are having to look for duplicate Entries everytime?

Or, are you doing just like fritolay, wherein you have the same Entry data scheduled as you are importing?

Yes!
(Because the bank does not always fill in the description field)
I fill in the description field whitch screws it up.

Perhaps you could try downloading your bank statement with only the new transactions for the month. This should be an available option on your bank's website. That way those same six entries won't continually show up when importing. Thanks!
