How do you archive previous entries with smart folders. I can create the smart folder.I choose the entries I want to archive but clicking and dragging to the smart folder doesn't happen. I am new to CheckBookPro and I want to archive all my old Quicken data to smart folders by year, and would even like to nest the years in folders. I am a Mac user but don't seem to understand smart folders and how I can best use them.

It's not really "archiving." All the entries still reside in a big single file for the account. You set the parameters for the folder, in this case, "from Jan. 1 2013 to Dec 31 2013 and name the smart folder 2013. Only files meeting the parameter set will appear in the folder. You access the folder you want to be working in by clicking on it. My folfers are annual from 2005 to 2014. You can rearrange the folders in the side drawer. Access all the entries by openinf the account folder above the smart folders.

I am looking for simple advice. When I highlight the entries for a year and try to drag them to a created "smart folder" for the year...nothing happens! What am I missing?I know click and drag, but nothing happens. So when I look in the folder I created for the year's entries, there is nothing. I can't figure what I am missing.
Frustrated

Only the regular blue folders will accept items dragged over to them, while Smart Folders display items that fall under certain criteria that are set without the items actually getting separated out of the main Account. To create a regular folder, choose 'New Folder...' from the Account menu at the top of the screen.

Thanks for the information on blue folders. Can the blue folders be moved into "Archived" folder? And.. can blue folders be nested (put several year folders into one new folder)?

Unfortunately, CheckBook Pro isn't capable of creating folders within other folders. So, that means it's not possible to have a folder named "Archived" that houses other folders or any sort of nested folders. The idea to make that kind of option available is a good one, though, so that's a feature we can look into incorporating into a future version.
