Once upon a time, within CheckBook Pro, I had two register accounts. I think one was my wife's and one was mine (account 2). Well, I cleared all entries in the first account (wife), and now use only "account 2", but I have to step through two password entry requests to get to my account data:

When I launch CB Pro, the password entry window appears: "Checkbooks' accounts are protected by a password". When I enter my password, it brings up an account with zero entries, zero balance.

Another password entry appears: "The account "Account 2" is protected by a password". When I enter the password, I gain access to my checkbook entries as usual.

What can I do to move "account 2" data into a 'first to appear' account thereby eliminating the second account? Or what other fixes are there or am I forever cursed with entering a password twice because I screwed up?

Thank you
Dave

Have you tried deleting the account that you zeroed out?

Alternatively, you should be able to go to the account that you zeroed out and go to Menu/Account/Edit Account and in the password section leave everything blank; in other words delete the password and leave the entry lines blank. You should be good to go...

Good luck!

I have a few roadblocks:

When "All Accounts" (upper left side of screen) is highlighted, I entered "remove account" from HELP. A dropdown menu appears under ACCOUNTS, with a floating arrow pointing to REMOVE ACCOUNT which is muted and inoperative.

If I highlight 'Account 2' (upper left side up screen, subordinate to 'All Accounts'), and repeat the HELP, 'remove account' steps, I get "Unable to remove account. To remove this account, please create new account."

:?:

Other than this minor inconvenience, CheckBook Pro is very cool.

For the two passwords you're dealing with, one is the global password for the program (the first you're having to enter) and the other is the individual Account password for Account 2. To remove the global password, choose 'Preferences...' from the CheckBook Pro menu at the top of the screen, click on the Security button, and then clear out both the 'CheckBook Password' and 'Re-type Password' fields there. Moving forward, the only password you'll have to enter is the one for Account 2 when you first open up the application.

It sounds like in the past, your wife's Account actually was removed completely from the application. And, since CheckBook Pro won't let you delete the All Accounts option, that's why you're getting directed to select another Account when it's selected and the Remove Account option used.

Also, with Account 2 being your only remaining Account, you're directed to create another one before removing it because at least one Account must always be maintained in the application.

Sweet! It worked, Allan! Mission accomplished, and CheckBook Pro is still cool.

Thank you.
