When making split entries in Quicken checkbook I could toss in a split estimate (rough guessing for sales tax amount applied to each split entry) for each entry and Quicken would display the running balance to correct total, so I could copy that number into my final entry and be balanced. Is there a way to get a running balance in CB Pro? Right now I have to do the math on a separate sheet of paper or calculator to make the total agree with my receipt.

I'm not in front of my computer at the moment, but I believe that CBPro does this when you split a transaction. The running total is kept at the bottom of the split transaction tab. [That is, unless I am totally deranged in my thinking!]

Perhaps I did not state it clearly: CB PRO does keep a running total of the split lines I have entered. In contrast, in Quicken I would enter the receipt amount in the debit column, then select SPLIT, then as I added each Split item Quicken displayed the amount remaining that needed to be entered in order for the Split totals to equal the total bill amount. That way I could make fast approximate entries to inform me, and round out the last entry to make the split total balance with the receipt amount. For me that is a quick way to apply estimated sales tax and shipping share for the splits (general knowledge) and still have a precise total receipt entry (precise accounting.)

With Splits, it is a running total that's displayed for the splits being entered in rather than a remaining balance based off how the splits affect the overall Entry total. We can definitely see how offering that alternate Balance display would be quite useful, so perhaps we'll look into adding that option later on. Thanks!

I would like to add my vote for this feature. It made it very easy to record a check to, say, a credit card company and then break out portions of the total to track what was charged. Having the program continuing to subtract individual entries from the overall total made this a breeze.

Thanks.

Your vote for displaying the Entry total in the splits section of an Entry sheet has been noted in the feature request list. Thanks!
